We continue to move freight with wrap on it generally on Audi’s and VW’s but other makes as well. Per the manufacturer rules we cannot remove the wrap prior to loading. Make sure you are inspecting the wrap in the bay spot for any tears or abrasions and have that marked on the yard exit sheet prior to loading.
We all know that during transport the wrap (especially the full bags) will start coming apart. If you have these vehicles loaded, you need to check your load every 200 miles to ensure the wrap is still intact on the vehicle.
If the wrap is coming off, then you need to make sure that you take a photo, of the wrap coming off. Then you will need to remove the wrap from the vehicle and put it in the back seat or trunk.
This is done to prevent further damage to the unit. We have had complaints that drivers are pulling into the dealership with the wrap hanging off the vehicle. Please do not let this happen. The unit will have damage from the leaving the wrap flapping in the wind.
Remember to notate on VTAS that you “removed wrap to prevent further damage”, and any damage codes noted the comments should say “damage from wrap”. Failure to do this may result in you paying for damages.
Sometimes you will have to strap the wrap down to the deck to prevent damage until you can safely remove it and put in the unit.
